Al Hassan Switchgear achieves UL Certification (08 Aug 09)

Al Hassan Switchgear Manufacturing Co. LLC (AHSG), the manufacturing arm of the Al Hassan Group of Companies, has achieved another milestone by receiving the UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc., US) approval for its Switchboards, Motor Control Centres and Industrial Control range of products. AHSG is a leading manufacturer of complete range of LV Switchgear, MV Switchgear and Control & Relay Panels up to 220 kV with manufacturing facilities at Muscat and Buraimi. Underwriters Laboratories® is an independent product safety certification organization that has been testing products and writing standards for safety for more than a century.

By receiving the UL certification, Al Hassan has attained a new milestone in quality management. The UL listing further cements the reputation of quality of Al Hassan Switchgear products which already boasts of ISO 9001:2000, KEMA KEUR and type tests from internationally renowned testing laboratories including ASTA (UK), KEMA (Netherlands) and CPRI (India).

These certifications have led Al Hassan products to being accepted in the most critical of the applications whether it be Oil & Gas or Hospitals. In fact, Al Hassan Switchgear is in use by marquee names in all segments including Oil and Gas (PDO, Oxy), Petrochemicals (Sohar Aromatics, Salalah Methanol), Power Stations (Sohar Alumininum, PDO Qarn Alam / Mukhaizna), T&D Networks (Al Ain – Al Wasit Overhead Line), Hospitality (Barr Al Jissah, Madinat Jumerah, Al Marouj, Grand Hyatt), Ministry Hospitals (Ibra, Sohar, Sur) and Utilities (FEWA, SEWA).

Eng. Talal further added that the UL Listing will allow the use of Al Hassan Switchgear in a variety of projects that require this certification and improve our penetration in the export markets which follow US and Canadian standards like Kuwait, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc. He said the company planned to make further use of this in view of the Oman-US Free Trade Agreement.
