Al Hassan Engineering Co. SAOG holds Annual Staff Function (11 Mar 2010)

The annual staff function of Al Hassan Engineering Co. SAOG (AHEC) was held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Crystal Suites, Wadi Kabir. During the function which was attended by both the Head Office and Project Sites’ employees, a number of Omani and expatriate employees were given long term service awards. Employees who have served the company for more than 10/15 years of service were recognized for their loyalty and commitment to the company.

In addition to Al Hassan’s Chairman, Mr Hassan Ali Salman, MD, Mr Maqbool Ali Salman, many senior figures of the executive management including Mr. Peter Hall, CEO – AHEC, Eng. Talal Al Assaad, CEO-Manufacturing & Trading and the General Manager, Mr Jasbir Singh attended the occasion.

Mr. R.Y. Katre, Head – Business Development, AHEC, welcomed the delegates to the function. The Meeting commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Mohammed Al Ajmi.

Mr. Jasbir Singh, GM – Contracting (Oman) shared with the audience, AHEC’s key achievements of 2009 including :-

The enviable HSE record in the achievement of 12.3 Million man-hours in year 2009 and 32 million LTI free man-hours since 2007.

The successful re-certification and accreditation of the company to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.

Being the first Omani Company to win an EPC contract from PDO to build a Power Plant

Successful Completion of the PDO Burhan Gas Pipeline Project 4 months ahead of schedule

Completion of 2 Major Petrochemical Projects ahead of schedule at Sohar Aromatics and Salalah Methanol

Completion of the Largest Power Plant in Oman at the Sohar Aluminium Smelter Site (1000 MW).

The Implementation of the Balanced Score Card Management control tool within the Company.

The Induction of 30 Omani Graduates as Management Trainees through the newly established Management Development Centre.

AHEC being listed among the top 20 Companies in Oman on the Muscat Securities Market

Being the only Omani Company nominated in the four finalists in the “Contractor of the Year” category by Construction Week for entire Gulf Region.

The extension of the company’s Plant and Equipment fleet with the addition of the first Tower Cranes

Mr. Singh thanked all the executives of AHEC and Support functions for their active contribution to these much appreciated achievements and praised the great efforts of the project site teams in reaching these significant milestones. Mr. Singh further shared the challenges faced in 2010 and the business opportunities which were being developed. He requested the continued support from all and underlined the need for ongoing effective communication, resources optimization and a focused approach on effective and efficient execution of all Projects so that 2010 could be celebrated with even greater achievements.

Mr. Peter Hall, CEO - AHEC, outlined some of the major initiatives taken in year 2009 including the restructuring of the organization to improve business focus which contributed to the results achieved in 2009. He also thanked everyone for their ongoing support and commitment to HSE and Quality. He underlined his appreciation of the efforts made in securing a healthy order book and for the successes of project execution. He finally gave his encouragement to all for their ongoing commitment, enthusiasm and dedication to the achievement of the business targets for 2010 and beyond.

Eng. Talal Al Assaad, CEO - Manufacturing & Trading, Al Hassan Group, congratulated the AHEC team and appreciated the joint efforts made by all SBUs of Al Hassan Group in enhancing their position in the market.

Mr. Sanjay Khandagle, Manager – Talent Management announced Phase III of Suggestion Scheme, suggestions were requested from the Teams for enhancing the performance of the Group in the coming year. He appreciated the contributions made by all the employees during 1st and 2nd phases of suggestion scheme and looked forward to the same enthusiasm and commitment in Phase III. He also thanked the Management for its continuous support in the implementation of ideas / suggestions given.

Mr. Maqbool Ali Salman, Managing Director, stated his appreciation of the achievements of AHEC and looked forward to the prospect of AHEC moving up in the Top 20 Listed Omani Companies. He reinforced senior management’s commitment and focus on HSE and Quality. He also gave his strong encouragement to all for innovation & creativity in enhancing the performance of the business and posed the challenge, "How can AHEC be the most productive Company in Oman?"

Chairman, Mr. Hassan Ali Salman, stated his appreciation of the good work done by all in achievements of 2009. He encouraged all to fully consider and enhance strong Human Values explained the "Mirror Image" approach to recognizing behaviour and respect. He emphasized the need ongoing improvement in Safety and Quality and stressed that everyone working in Al Hassan should enjoy their work in a conducive environment.

The celebration ended with the distribution of bonuses to the AHEC employees and the much anticipated raffle draw.
