Al Hassan Engineering Company SAOG wins sub contracts for Saih Nihayada Gas Compression project (07 August 2010)

Royal Opera HouseAl Hassan Engineering Company SAOG (AHEC) has been selected by GS Engineering & Construction, Korea (GS E&C), a leading international Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contractor, to provide the temporary facilities, Civil, Building Works and 132 kV Overhead Line Works with SCADA for Phase 1 of Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) Saih Nihayada gas-field depletion-compression project (SNDC).

In Dec. 2009, PDO awarded an EPC contract for the SNDC project to GS E&C who will also undertake the de-bottlenecking of the existing Saih Nihayda Gas Processing (SNGP) plant. In turn, GS E&C has selected AHEC as their sub-contractor.

The Saih Nihayda field in Central Oman has been producing gas since SNGP plant was commissioned in early 2005 by AHEC in a JV company with a major international contractor. Gas from the field is treated at SNGP from where it enters the government gas grid. The installation of the new compression facilities will enable PDO to maintain required pressure levels for the SNGP plant for several years. Further, the de-bottlenecking of the processing plant will increase its capacity from the current level of 20 million cubic metres a day (m3/day) to 25 million m3/day.

"We are extremely happy to have successfully secured this contract for the temporary facilities and other works for the SNDC project," Peter Hall (pictured), CEO of AHEC said.

He added, "The SNDC Project builds on our significant reference list in the Oil and Gas sector. Previously we have been associated with the Shams Gas and Condensate Development Project carried out for PTTEP which was adjudged by Construction Week Dubai as the "Best Small Project of the Year" for 2007. Also, in a Joint Venture with SNC Lavalin, Canada we have built the original SNGP Plant which was adjudged the Best project in 2005 by PDO as well as Oman’s Best project by Construction Week".

He further added, "AHEC has been awarded this job based on the excellent HSE credentials it has in major industrial projects in Oman. In fact, AHEC has been associated with GS E&C for three earlier major Petrochemical projects in Oman, viz., Oman Polypropylene, Sohar Aromatics and Salalah Methanol and has completed more than 21 million safe man-hours for these projects. This is AHEC’s fourth contract from GS E&C which reflects their trust and confidence in our Company's capabilities."

Over last two decades, AHEC which is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company has established an excellent track record of being a prime EPC contractor and construction partner in executing complex jobs in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemicals, Power Plants, Electricity Transmission & Distribution, Industrial infrastructure projects and Maintenance of Oil & Gas and Power installations, Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.

The Saih Nihayada order adds further to the AHEC healthy current order book which includes a number of major projects under varying stages of construction; Nimr-C Full Field Water Injection Project for PDO, Kawther Compression Project for PDO / Petrofac, Amal Power Plant Project for PDO, A’Seeb Sewage Treatment Plant for Haya Water/Hyundai Rotem, Civil works for a Sub-station for Siemens/DEWA in Dubai and Civil and Building Works for GASCO ASAB-3 Project for Technip in Abu Dhabi.
