Al Hassan Group honoured for "Green Footprint" Initiatives at Oman Green Awards (6 June 2012)

Al Hassan Group of Companies, one of Oman's leading business houses won the Special Commendation Award in the 'Green Footprint' category at the recently held Oman Green Awards Ceremony in Al Bustan Palace Hotel. The Awards were organised to coincide with the World Environment Day celebrated on June 5 every year.

The 'Green Footprint' category is for companies that have initiated measures and taken steps to effectively reduce or offset their carbon footprint. The award was received by Mr. Ali Maqbool, a family business member from H.E. Mohammed bin Salim bin Said al Toobi, Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs in presence of H.H. Sayyid Tarik bin Shabib Al Said, Patron, Environment Society of Oman (ESO).

The honour has further reinforced the fact that Al Hassan Group remains at the forefront of making a meaningful contribution to Omani society and the country at large.

Al Hassan Group was presented the Award for a number of Carbon Footprint reduction initiatives including Re-design of material pick up & delivery process in Muscat, Virtualisation & Screen Saver disabling and establishment of RO Plant at Saih Nihayada Project site and use of translucent sheets in roofing for new warehouse.

Other Al Hassan Green Initiatives include Employees & Stakeholder Awareness, Optimal Energy, Water & Fuel Consumption, Recycling of Paper, Re-use of refurbished Portacabins, re-use of Wooden Packing of Imports for Switchgear Exports, Tree Plantation, Flora & Fauna Ecosystem Creation at PDO SNDC Project Site, Barka Beach Cleaning, Proper Handling of Oil Spilling & Storage of Hazardous Chemicals and declaration of Al Hassan as a No Smoking zone.
