Al Hassan Supports 10th Annual Oman Cancer Walkathon 2013 (04 Nov 2013)
In line with its commitment to support initiatives that have a positive impact on the community, the Al Hassan Group recently supported the National Cancer Awareness Association’s (NACA) Walkathon 2013 the theme for which was ‘Each step can change a life’ to promote cancer awareness in the Sultanate. For the first time several employees from Al Hassan took part in the event to show their support and enthusiasm for the noble cause in a landmark year where the walkathon witnessed a record turnout of over 5000 people from Oman. It was a winding two kilometer walk that was held at the Qurum Natural Park where the atmosphere was of fun, excitement and camaraderie. A special banner was also designed for this occasion.
The Cancer Walkathon is the flagship annual initiative of NACA, one of Oman’s best-known advocacy groups dedicated to fighting cancer by espousing better awareness, early diagnosis and successful management. NACA’s sterling contribution to cancer awareness and ameliorative support has won the association numerous awards and accolades.

This is our humble way of reaching out to empower the community at large to be better aware of cancer and have access to the treatments available. As we all know that better awareness and an early diagnoses can help in minimizing the risks associated with a disease like cancer. This cause is close to our heart and we extend our wholehearted support to the initiative." Said Mr. Maqbool Ali Salman, MD, Al Hassan Group expressing his solidarity to the cause.
Proceeds from this year’s walkathon have been earmarked for the maintenance cost of NACA’s Mobile Mammography Unit and Dar Al Hanan which supports young children affected with cancer.
