Press ReleasesAl Hassan Engineering Company renews prestigious ASME "U" & "S" Certification marks and obtains NBIC "R" symbol (19 May 2012)
Since 1916, ASME has accredited companies to certify that their products, services and quality systems comply with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Code, which establishes the rules governing design, fabrication, and inspection of boilers & pressure vessels during manufacture and assembly. The ASME Code Stamps are regarded as a hallmark of acceptance and certification and indicate that the product conforms to the latest edition of the ASME BPV Codes. The ASME Code Stamp is accepted in over 100 countries as a means of meeting their government safety regulations. AHEC is now one of the few companies in Oman to be accredited with these prestigious certifications in addition to the National Board accreditation. "This is yet another great achievement," explains Peter Hall, CEO of AHEC. He added, "ASME accreditation is extremely challenging to achieve, and now, following the Joint Review by ASME Team of our manufacturing facilities at Ghala, we have ASME and NBIC approved production facilities to serve our clients in Oman and UAE." Mr Hall elaborated that the ASME accreditation will enable AHEC to produce the whole range of components in-house and thus significantly improve delivery of traditionally long lead time products such as Boilers and Pressure vessels. In addition to this, the workshop can handle pressure vessels to PD 5500 and Shop fabricated Tanks to API 650, BS EN 14015. The "R" Symbol enables AHEC to handle Repairs, Rerating and / or Alterations to pressure vessels and other pressure rating items. Mr Hall credited this achievement to the visionary leadership of Mr Maqbool Ali Salman, MD of Al Hassan Group and complimented the Quality Assurance & Quality Control Department of AHEC for achieving this milestone. He indicated that AHEC has already undertaken the fabrication of Surge Vessels, Air Receivers and Storage Tanks for various applications delivering them well ahead of scheduled time frame.
AHEC in recent past has diversified its activities into Boiler & Pressure Vessels Erection, Installation and allied works. AHEC had erected Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) as part of the 1000 MW Sohar Aluminium Power Plant Project with Alstom–France and executed Once-Through HRSG Contract for NeM - Netherlands. AHEC's involvement as EPC Contractor for the PDO Amal Power Project includes installation and assembly of critical equipment such as K.O. Vessel , Water Bath Heaters, Filter Separator, Drain Vessel. AHEC's Quality Management System has been accredited with ISO 9000 since 1996. It is currently ISO 9001:2008 certified. AHEC has to its credit, a range of welding qualifications for Duplex Stainless Steel (DSS), Stainless Steel (SS), Titanium alloys, HDPE Fusion Butt welding, Aluminium welding, Alloy steel welding (P11, P22, P91, etc.), Dis-similar materials welding, Hot Tapping, Hydrotesting, GRE Jointing, etc. and a track record for its quality achievements. Said Peter Hall, "The addition of "U", "S" and "R" stamps certification will enable AHEC to meet both quality and time requirements set by its clients. This is a very definite sign of our continuing and dedicated commitment to quality." With such an enviable track record, experience, expertise and above all the management's commitment to excel, AHEC is poised for significant growth and development. |

Al Hassan Engineering Company SAOG, Oman’s leading EPC Contractor, has recorded another major achievement with the renewal of certificates of authorization from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for the use of the "S" and "U" stamps for its production facilities and field sites. The ASME "S" and "U" certification marks are for the manufacture and Assembly of Power Boilers and Pressure Vessels respectively. AHEC also is qualified for Repairs and Alterations and is authorized to use the "R" SYMBOL in accordance with the provisions of the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC).
