Artemide Group Italy ties up with Al Hassan Electricals for Oman (16 May 2011)

Launches High-end Design & Architectural Lighting Products

Artemide Group, Italy a world leader in the high-end residential and professional lighting sector, plans to develop Oman's high-end market with its award winning products portfolio having iconic product design and reliable quality. This was announced by Artemide officials during a product launch event organized alongside its newly appointed Oman based partner, Al Hassan Electricals Co. LLC (AHE), at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Muscat on 16 May.

The program started with the signing of the partnership agreement by Maqbool Ali Salman, MD, Al Hassan Group and Ernesto Gismondi, President & CEO, Artemide Italy in the presence of H.E. Paolo Dionisi, Italian Ambassador to the Sultanate.

The Al Hassan Lighting team along with its top management were in full attendance led by Hassan bin Ali Salman, Chairman; Maqbool Ali Salman, MD and Eng. Talal Al Assaad, CEO-Manufacturing & Trading. Artemide, Italy was led by Ernesto Gismondi, President & CEO; Ms Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Board Member; Rodella Mario, Manager, Middle East and Robert Lowrey, Resident Manager, Middle East.

Mr. Hassan bin Ali Salman in his opening remarks mentioned that Al Hassan Lighting and Automation Division which was set up as recently as 2007 has been able to quickly establish itself as a "Total Solutions Provider" in Oman in terms of Lighting design, Automation Systems Design, products supply and services to a wide range of projects from inception until successful completion. Mr. Salman reiterated that Al Hassan Lighting has professionally qualified & experienced Lighting Engineers available to support end-customer / architect / consultant / contractor at all stages of a project. He added that organizing major events like the Product Launch with Artemide were part of AHE’s endeavour to increase customer awareness about the latest technological and design innovations in the Lighting sector. He stressed that a partner like Artemide is particularly appreciated by lighting designers and project managers around the world as a company whose skills and research/testing labs support the ideas that need to be implemented with passion and enthusiasm.

Later, Mr. Ernesto Gismondi gave a presentation covering the Human Light Philosophy, the various international accolades won by Artemide and the design and architectural lighting products.

The Human Light Philosophy

The Dual Soul of Business

Mr. Gismondi explained that Artemide operates through two business units: Design and Architectural.

The Design unit designs, produces, and markets residential design lighting appliances that use a wide range of high-tech light sources - such as LED - and offers all product types and applications (floor, table, wall, ceiling, suspension). Tolomeo, Tizio, Logico, Castore, Pipe have become cult objects, selected for residential use as well as for highly prestigious residential applications. This is a unique strength of Artemide’s offering.

The Architectural unit designs, produces, and markets product lines for indoor environments. Artemide has implemented highly prestigious projects, both in Italy and abroad, including the Mandarin Hotel in Tokyo; the Nike headquarters in London and the Farnborough Airport in London.

Products like Eclisse, Tizio, Tolomeo considered as true icons of contemporary design which were on display during the Oman Product Launch drew excellent reviews from the audience who welcomed these products with enthusiasm. The presentations were followed by an interactive session wherein the large audience comprising high profile lighting designers, architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors and representatives of media got a first hand feel of the products on display.

Mr. Gismondi concluded : The high design contents, the high level of technological innovation, products conceived according to personal needs, as well as constant investments in marketing and communication are the key factors that have allowed Artemide to develop into one of the best known and most prestigious lighting equipment brands in the world.

"Artemide is very happy to be in Oman, a country which is developing rapidly. The projects where Artemide’s products would find application are hotels, offices, retail, villas and upscale buildings", said Mr. Gismondi. He added : Artemide’s products reflect the world-famous Italian design and style combined with functionality and ease of use.

The tremendous goodwill they have generated in the market with their existing operations, and, a sound technical team looking after the lighting business augurs well for Artemide and its customers," remarked Gismondi.
